Auto headlight trim frame is one of the most important parts on the headlight, with strict appearance requirements, and the mold needs electroplating treatment. For auto headlight trim frame moulds, the following points should be noted when designing:
(1)The plated parts should avoid the fusion line in the first place, because any fusion line in the plated parts will show up and affect the appearance of the plastic parts, avoid the fusion line when designing the casting system, if the fusion line is unavoidable, try to drive it to the non-appearance area, and verify by mold flow analysis before designing the casting system.
(2)The surface of the decorative frame is generally designed with patterns. When designing the mold, we should pay attention to the depth of the patterns of the plastic parts, which are generally easy to produce flow patterns.
(3) The range of molding process of plastic material is small, and the surface of plastic part is easy to produce bright spot and difficult to control. The mold pouring system should be designed with thick and large runners, the gate should be fan-shaped, and the width of the gate should be about 35~40mm to facilitate the filling of the melt.
(4) The decorative frame plastic parts are easy to stick to the fixed mold phenomenon, the pre-design prevention to solve the plastic parts stick to the fixed mold is generally as follows
a. Design the inverted buckle pattern on the inner side of the plastic part which is easy to stick to the mold with large clamping force, the depth of the inverted buckle pattern is 0.5~1mm, and the inverted buckle pattern is designed near the rounded corner of the plastic part.
b. Design reinforcement bars on the inner side of the plastic part corresponding to the plastic part with high clamping force and design the inverted buckle hook on the push rod. According to the characteristics of this plastic part, the reinforcement bars and BOSS pillar (commonly known as cylinder pillar) should be designed on the inner side of the plastic part in the area of 6 LED lights to avoid the deformation of the plastic part.
